Walking With Orphans has partnered with Heart to Heart International, a nonprofit that has served for over 25 years in Romania, to provide programming to three private children's homes in Ilfov county, two state run orphanages in Teleorman county, and two special needs schools in Teleorman country. WWO also provides administration for a transition home for children who have aged out of the orphanage system.
Programs at the private children's homes include:
- Life skills classes
- Bible study
- Music and singing
- Arts and crafts
- Games and recreational activities
- Character education classes
- Summer camp opportunities
Programs at the state run orphanages include:
- Life skills groups
- Social skills therapy groups
- Character education classes
- Summer camp opportunities
Programs at the special needs schools include:
- Emotional education classes
- Social skills classes
- Arts and crafts
- Games and recreational activities
- Summer camp opportunities
Programs provided during the transition program include:
- Emotional education classes
- Social skills classes
- Life skills classes
- Character education classes
- Bible study
- Practical skills classes (i.e. cooking, cleaning, preparing a budget, etc.)
- Trade skill training (welding, construction, woodworking, etc.)
The transition program also provides housing for a minimum of nine months for participants. Upon gradution from the program, WWO assists participants in finding jobs and securing housing. Unlimited follow up services and support are also available to program graduates as long as needed.
